KappaCCD Software Licenses

The KappaCCD comes with 3 major software packages, each requiring a license. You can request licenses to use a few different computers with your KappaCCD system, as long as they are in the same building. Supported architectures are SGI computers running IRIX V5.x and V6.x, and Intel PC's running RedHat Linux V5.2 and V6.2 (we have seen bugs appear under Redhat V5.0 and V6.1), RH V7.1 and RH V7.3 (we have seen bugs under RH7.2).
The 2000 release of HKl does not run under RH7.3. To run under this operating system, you will have to upgrade to the 2002 version. We have not extensively tested RH V8.0, but preliminary results are hopeful.
maXus
To request a maXus license you will need to fill in a form of information about yourself and the computer. This can be done even before maXus is installed on the system.

A maXus license will expire after a few years; when it expires you can request a new one.

If the Internet address (IP address) of a computer running maXus is changed, a new maXus license will be required.

The maXus license file is called maXus.license, and is stored in the maXus lib directory (usually /usr/local/maxus/lib)

HKL
To request a HKL license you will need to run the program "accessprod" (for the 1998 version) or "accessprod2000" (for the 2000 version), which asks some information about you and your institute, and acquires some information about the computer by itself. Since the license file contents have changed between the two versions, it is essential to use the version belonging to the denzo version that you are installing. The "accessprod" programs are part of the HKL program suite, so the suite needs to be installed before a license can be requested. For first time installations, the "info" file that is produced by "accessprod" should be sent to hkllic@bruker-axs.nl (Note:Users may ask for a license at HKL after they have received an introduction into the system by an application scientist. Then the license request can be sent directly to the hkl.com address suggested by the "accessprod" program. If you do this before the training, you will NOT receive a license).

For the 1998 version of denzo: If the Internet address (IP address) or the host name of a computer running HKL software is changed, a new HKL license will be required. For the 2000 version, which uses a completely different license system, both a change of IP address or a change of ethernet card will require you to request a new license.

The HKL license is called cr_info and can be stored either in /usr/local/lib, in your home directory, or in the directory where you are running the program. The license file looks like a single very long line (1998 version) or multiple lines of about 64 characters wide (2000 version) of gibberish.

collect
To request a collect license you will need to run the program "nlicense", which asks some information about you and your institute, and acquires some information about the computer by itself. The "nlicense" program is part of the Nonius collect program suite, so the programs need to be installed before a license can be requested. The output of the program should be sent to collectlicense@bruker-axs.nl. If E-mail is properly installed on the computer where "nlicense" is run, the message can be sent by the "nlicense" program itself (please note that systems as delivered by Bruker Nonius do not come with a proper E-mail configuration).

A number of optional modules can be selected in nlicense. Please only select the optional modules for which you have obtained a license. If you want to buy additional modules, please contact your Bruker Nonius sales representative.

A collect license will expire after 720 days; when it expires you can request a new one.

If the operating system of a computer running collect is re-installed, a new collect license will be required. The same may be true if you change the ethernet card in the system. A change of the IP address or the hostname does not require a new license.

The collect license is called nonius-license.dat and can be stored in /usr/local/lib, in your home directory, or in the directory where you are running the program.

evalccd
EvalCCD does not require its own license. To run it, the "evalccd" module of the collect license needs to be activated.
