Graphing Output with ACE/gr

The format of file output generated by "Write" "Section" and "Write" "Profile" is designed to be easily input to the plotting software ACE/gr. ACE/gr is in the public domain, and is available by anonymous ftp from ftp.teleport.com in pub/users/pturner.

A simple filter program facilitates the transfer of data in the .cuts and .profs files to ACE/gr. To invoke the filter, type the Unix command

togr my_sample
where my_sample.ipf is the name of the diffraction image file. The filter togr will then read the files my_sample.cuts and my_sample.profs, and will combine them into a file my_sample.gr which may be input to ACE/gr. The filter will also place in the file my_sample.gr commands to ACE/gr which select logarithmic y-axis scaling, and create a plot title, axis labels, and legends.

To invoke ACE/gr, type the Unix command

xmgr my_sample.gr

ACE/gr allows the user to tailor plots in a variety of ways through a user-friendly graphic interface. A number of statistical analysis tools are also included in ACE/gr. ACE/gr comes with documentation in HTML form usable by most Web browsers.
