makefries: undistortion correction file
The "makefries" program is used to create a file that makes it possible to
"undistort" an image.
"makefries" will invoke the "fries" program from the "evalccd" suite.
Usage
The program is invoked by the command line:
makefries [options]
Options
The only option the program accepts is "apex". With this option, the
fries.frs file will be tailored for a conversion from KappaCCD ".kcd"
to ".sfrm" files for use with APEX2 and SAINT. See How to convert KappaCCD images for
use with APEX2 and SAINT
Without options, "makefries" will create an undistorted frame that is
the same size as the original detector.
If you want to create a
different frame size with accompanying different pixel size, please
run the "fries" program manually.
For the actual undistortion of images, one can use imagesum with the "undistorted" option.
Prerequisites
The program requires a file "distorpol.vic" as written by makedistor. It will locate this file in
the calibration directory as long as there is one image file in the
local directory. "makefries" will also use a "detalign.vic" file if
it is available.
Output
The program makes a file "fries.frs" that can be copied to the calibration
directory.
Note
Since the package is not included in the standard collect package, and
is only required in some special cases (e.g. for integration in
programs that can not work with distorted detectors). The makefries
step is not a standard step in the calibration of the detector.
