makeambi: Collect a standard AMBI dataset

The "makeambi" program can collect a standardized AMBI data set.

Usage

The program is invoked by the command line:

  makeambi [options]

The program will:

Check whether enough disk space is available.
Make contact with the KappaCCD, and check generator settings.
Collect a few dark images and two sets of 90 images at kappa zero and detector theta of 0 and 20 degrees. Images are 2 degrees in phi each, and have an exposure time of 2x25 seconds.

The total time taken by this data collection is approximately 3 hours.

Other conditions

It is possible, although undesirable, that other conditions should be used for the ambi data collection. E.g. for modern rotating anode generators the exposure time should be shorter, or for a larger detector the detector-to-crystal distance should be larger. To accommodate these, the makeambi program recognizes the following options:

dx=mm: Sets a different distance
frametime=seconds: Sets a different data collection time per frame
frameangle=degrees: Sets a different frame angle

Please note that if these options are used, it is no longer possible to compare data sets with other machines that used unchanged conditions.
