calkappa: calibrate kappa zero-point

"calkappa" is a program to calibrate the "kappa" zero setting on the KappaCCD by analysis of identical images of an AMBI crystal made at different omega/phi combinations.

Usage

calkappa [options] [make]

Without any argument, the "calkappa" program will analyze any images named "kapcal01f" through "kapcal04f.kcd" in the current directory. With the argument "make" it will make these 4 images first, and then analyze these.

As options, one can give "frametime=#" and "frameangle=#" if the default appears inadequate. Please tell us if you need this, and try to figure out why...

By studying the rotation between the different images, the absolute kappa zero is determined, and if it is significantly offset, the program will print instructions on how to re-calibrate the kappa on the server PC.

The program will also study the horizontal shift between the images, but the significance of these results is not obvious.

WARNINGS:

Running "calkappa" is harmless, but if mistakes are made during the actual recalibration on the server PC, the KappaCCD might be damaged.
If the offset printed by "calkappa" is not absolutely reasonable, do not recalibrate the server PC, but warn your Bruker Nonius service contact instead.
It is advisable to check after a recalibration whether the result of a retest comes out correctly.
